As much as I've enjoyed working life, I have to say, it's the friendship with these few people I seldom mentioned, which bloomed from the day I first joined Petronas, that has kept me going. From day one, it was like we're meant to be bonded like families. I've even considered them siblings which are always close to heart whenever I'm offshore or just a cubicle away. We stayed connected - FB, email or phone call, as long as there's a mean of communication, we'll make sure we can reach each of us. These were all done without realizing that we have actually been taking care of each other through thick and thin.
Bros, is what I used to call them. still the same till now even though some circumstances may have changed.
A year and a half already ya. We even felt like celebrating the anniversary of the date we first met each other - 1st April 2009. One of us was away at that time and he said to me which sounded something like this, "keme, mesti korg duk celebrate same2 kan..bestnyee.." - that's how envious Tariq got when he was away on the 1st of April 2010. As far as I remembered, he was in freakin' Ethiopia. THAT FAR AWAY and we're all still connected. Even when abu was away earlier of the year, he went to Ethiopia too, and I went to Vietnam for wellsitting, we kept messaging through FB as well. A solid proof that friendship can survive the distance =)
The three of us - well I've mentioned them discreetly, hehe - Abu, Tariq and me, had our very own fav restaurant - Madam Kwan. Not fancy but we've bonded there since we always got stuck with no place to eat and I, as usual, will make the call where will we have lunch. As an unreliable and fussy little sister, I managed to drag them to Mdm Kwan - we introduced Abuq to this place and he luv it! hahaha - remember the mushroom soup guys? =P
I have to say, we managed to hold on to each other through the difficulties of first year as a wellsite geologist. The extended working hours, caci maki dari bos, difficult teams to work with, time consuming reports, stress dkt offshore, pressure sbb terase bongok, the lazy times, demotivated periods, PMS, gaduh sesame sendiri - we've endured it with the help of karaoke, pigged out at the delicious and expensive restaurants (yes, it was my doing), movie day outs, long chat over a cup of tea or two, lengthy dinner with gossip sessions, short lunch break, smoking time (only applicable to Tariq but both of us had to accompany him;P), weekends in office..and the list kept going. Imagine ya guys, without all these, will we still be in GOG? haha
Like siblings, we had our own series of disagreements between us. OMG, it was friggin' hard to deal with. yessss it was! (sile admit bros). Even I had my own down times with Abuq and Tariq. Some of it lasted a week - awkward silence been filling up the void spaces bile jadi mcm ni. Most of the time, one of us will bring the three of us back together. We accept the fact that Abuq is very very very veryyyyyy keraih kepala, Tariq is soooooo kalut and sensitive and I am, in every bit selfish and irritating at times.
The three of us, we had a big sister - Kak Warda (tariq selalu panggil name panjang2 mcm ni. abuq and me only call her Kak Wa). She'll bring us together and always been the big sister we need=) I've even went to her kampung in Batu Pahat when I was in need of a break from my world. She's our big sister, always will be.
I don't have any solid reason to this mushy post but I needed to put it down so that if ever in the future, we took different paths - which I'm sure this will happen soon, I will always remember this feeling of gratitude to have met them and befriended them until this strong bond tied us together.
FYI, Kak wa is going through a difficult time right now but I'm offshore, and I could only lend her supportive words to let her know I'm here if she needs a shoulder to lean on and I just knew that both Abu and Tariq will be leaving me. Both of them are going into project teams soon. Gud luck bros. u guys will do me proud lah =)
Note: Not to be forgotten, the new addition to the family - we had Afun, Lela, Madi and Acap keeping us all entertained and motivated to go through this exhausting routine in office =) To the journey of thick and thin together insyaAllah..
